Cobra Starship- “Hot Mess”
First off let me say, it’s been LEAKED! Cobra’s 3rd album to date, longer song titles, more risque and let’s not forget all those good girls going bad. Having seen these guys in the flesh in 07 I can personally tell you that they really do put on one hell of a show. They could get you moving to André Rieu (and how I wish I was kidding). Hot Mess, being the follow up of their sophomore effort, the catchy, 80’s dance inspired ¡Viva La Cobra! is definitely no let down. Hot Mess, with it’s hit anthem “Good Girls Gone Bad” featuring Gossip Girl’s, Leighton Meister. Filled with testosterone fueled choruses, the ever so slightly comical lyrics of Cobra’s front man Gabe Saporta and with an air to each song that just makes you want to get up and act like a drunk frat boy. This is may not be album of the year, but it certainly does deserve a look it. Definitely a great listen. 3.5 stars.
5 Recommended Tracks (Hot Mess):
1. Hot Mess - Catchy chorus, delicious vocals, and a killer bass line.
2. Nice Guys Finish Last - Hey! That’s not true… but hey, I guess “all we want is bad boys”
3. Good Girls Go Bad - It’s a hit single for a reason, and Leighton Meister certainly doesn’t let Cobra down!
4. Pete Wentz is the only reason we’re famous - We may not want it to be true but what can you do. Great old school Cobra punk pop feel to it.
5. Fold Your Hands Child - Slower but still lively enough to grab a drink and dance.
Available: August 11
So… why are we here again?
